Field Training Format and Communications

  • Umpires will be assigned a specific time and field to report to for field training during a live game.
  • Please check your email regularly after you have completed the last classroom session.
  • Please do not email requesting a specific time for your play day. We have 100+ umpires to schedule. Thank you for your understanding.
  • All umpires will be expected to officiate live games during the training. While officiating, trainees will receive feedback and instruction on how to improve their agbility to meet the standard of perfromance.
  • On the last game that the trainee officiates the trainer will "rate" their perfromance in 5 key areas: professionalism, game management, rules knowledge, penalty administration, and mechanics (signals & positioning). All umpires must pass the field rating in order to be assigned paying games.
  • www.uslacrosse.org has resources related to the rating levels that an umpire can acheive.
  • If you are a returning umpire and want to receive 3 person system training please email  .
